S.A.N.D. Sleep Awake Notes Details

When a fisherman brings a fish alongside the boat, he nets it as quickly as he can. In the same way, it is imperative to capture a dream on paper before it gets away.

Let’s make an acronym to emphasize our method: SAND
S : Sleep
A: Awake
N: Notes
D: Details

Remember, sand is just one component of concrete. The other components are application, practice and determination. Make it fun. Go and “capture” a dream. Be a dream hunter.

Application
Apply the rules shared on this blog. Subscribe at the bottom of the page to receive updates. Many more helpful tips and lessons are coming to this blog. When a notebook and two pencils adorn your clutter-free nightstand adjacent your bed, you have applied the first lesson. When clear notes stretch across the pages, you have applied the second lesson.

Practice
Practice improves recall power. The field of cognitive psychology proved this experimentally years ago. Individuals losing their recall improved after practicing recall. They were shown a plate with twelve to twenty items for thirty seconds. The plate was covered and they then were challenged to write down as many objects on the tray as they could. Their ability to recall improved with practice. The more they exercised their recall “muscle”, the more items they could recall.

You will find the same true with dreams. In an abstract, instructional only sense, the more you exercise recall of dreams, the stronger your mind will become to access them. Stronger recall ability will capture more dreams. Those dreams will include more details. You will capture longer, more developed dreams as well.

Determination
Determination factors into practice. The more determined you are, the longer you will practice. Results will encourage you. You will become more determined.

Determination also factors directly into results. Whoever enters into the gift of dreaming with a casual attitude will fail- excepting cases of outside influence, which is a very critical lesson for later.

Determination, in every facet of life, separates the recreational from the professional. I ask you to be professional.

Challenge
Set a goal to persist. Set a goal to not quit. Can you record 100 dreams? It is easier than you think.
